Big thanks to Jane, who married Tim on 17th February (ceremony at Brantwood, Reception and Wedding Breakfast at Belmount Hall – “… our wedding absolutely everything that we could have hoped for….. You, and Belmount, gave us a perfect wedding… “), who has sent us three fascinating books about Beatrix Potter, with a number of references to Belmount. In particular, given the cold weather at the moment, in a letter dated 13th May 1921 from Beatrix Potter to her friend Miss Louie Choyce, who helped her with farming in Sawrey during the First War, she stated:- “…. It is not long since we had deep snow one morning! Things are more backward here; but still the lilac and azaleas and apple blossom are coming out; …… “. Snowjoke. I just want to get started on gardening.
