Whilst major works are being done to the west end of the house, to upgrade our guest loos, and guest sitting room, we are having a break from weddings. This is the first time in almost ten years that we are having a ‘proper’ break. It is both an excellent opportunity to catch up with ourselves, to catch up with our social life, and to plan the future for Belmount Hall.

So, last weekend, we hosted a House Party, with our guests being some of my housemates from Bristol rather too many years ago. This is a wonderful use of Belmount – not as hard work as weddings, but lots of fun. In short, Belmount works perfectly for house parties.

One of our weekend guests summed it all up as follows:- “That was a wonderful weekend in every way. We are so grateful to you two for organising it all so brilliantly well. One could not ask for a better combination of lovely, dear friends, in a perfectly beautiful house, in a glorious landscape. Fresh air, loads of walking, dogs, a cruise on Gondola, a perfect pub lunch, plus delicious exquisite meals and special wine just completed the pleasure. Your hospitality is absolutely brilliant – those wedding clients are so lucky to have you.”

We both love hosting house parties. It is a wonderful use for Belmount Hall. We can provide special food, ranging from ‘Jumping Jenny style’ food – Lasagne/Moussaka/Chicken and Fennel Pie – on the evening of arrival, to Gillie’s amazing canapes, brilliant starters and puddings, and Chris’ Boeuf en Croute with rich red wine sauce, for example, on Saturday evening.
