Seventy five guests managed to make their way through the storm damaged countryside – trees down all over the place that morning, including across our south drive – phew – for Peter’s 90th Birthday lunch. The menu was Butternut Squash soup, with a hint of ginger, followed by Venison Casserole, served with potato and parsnip mash, cauliflower gratin and buttered carrots, with Aubergine Galette for the vegetarians. As for pudding, there was a choice between Gillie’s amazing Bread and Butter Pudding and her famous Pavlova Meringue with Red Berry Sauce.

We were delighted to receive the following card from one of the guests:-

“Despite it being a commercial operation, I just wanted to thank you both for the delicious feast you laid on for Peter – the result of much skill and hard work. We greatly enjoyed seeing Belmount Hall – a lovely house obviously much improved by you…”. O.B. 11.12.13
